After Eva Duarte de Perón's death in 1952, her corpse is held for three years awaiting construction of a mausoleum - a resting place that would never be built. In 1955, the military seized control of Argentina and hid Perón's body from the public, fearing that it would unite the country against them. But they never imagined that in doing so she would become more dangerous in death than she was in life.

After Eva Duarte de Perón's death in 1952, her corpse is held for three years awaiting construction of a mausoleum - a resting place that would never be built. In 1955, the military seized control of Argentina and hid Perón's body from the public, fearing that it would unite the country against them. But they never imagined that in doing so she would become more dangerous in death than she was in life.

1971. Mariano and his wife Irene argue over the investigation... she senses that they might be in danger. A return to their apartment one night validates her fears. Mariano, however, has no intention of letting up, and instead lines up secret interviews with those who knew Evita best. 1955: Colonel Koenig grapples with the realization that there's a traitor in his ranks.

Irene is making arrangements to get her and Mariano out of the country, but the journalist has a last-minute change of heart. Later, Mariano learns about a bloody tragedy tied to Evita's corpse. 1955: Another tragedy occurs, this time involving a pregnant woman who stumbled upon the corpse. 1945: Perón asks Eva to marry him, in spite of recent adversity.

Mariano finds out that after the tragedy at Arancibia's house, the corpse is taken to a very curious place: the Rialto cinema. The cinema, as it turns out, is connected to a man with ties to a Koenig; Cifuentes takes Mariano to see the Colonel, but he isn't the man he once was. 1955: Koenig entrusts the body to Astorga, Rialto's projectionist who has a backstory with Evita.

1971: Mariano finally meets Colonel Koenig. A man broken by the bottle, Koenig is willing to tell "his story", going so far as recounting how close he was to Evita when he was her aid, praising her successes, and the reasons as to why he loves and hates her. Mariano gets to know first hand the demons Koenig carries with him in an intense interview.

Mariano convinces the ailing Colonel to tell him where Evita's body is buried, but the truth lies with someone else. Later, two of Koenig's subordinates finally reveal the truth to Mariano. The tireless journalist eventually hears the details of how Evita's corpse was taken to Italy. 1971: The remains are returned to her husband in Madrid, where at last, the odyssey comes to an end.
