In the distant past, a Japanese samurai (Phil LaMarr) embarks on a mission to defeat the evil shape-shifting wizard Aku (Mako and Greg Baldwin). There's so much to admire here, so many touches that bespeak tremendous confidence and control... Less is always more in Tartakovsky. He's the action filmmaker as sketch artist, only drawing what needs be drawn to capture the essence of a moment.
