Rogue's Rock

Rogue's Rock is flat broke, even the potato crop can't be used as it's riddled with blight, so Wing Commander Rogue goes to the mainland to buy some crop spray. There he meets two German explorers who want to search the waters around the island for a lost Spanish galleon rumoured to contain millions in gold. Polberry and Hawkins come up with a plan to drop fake treasure around the island to cash in on treasure seeking tourists and manage to convince an English newspaper there's a fortune to be had around the island.

The gang pretend to raise a hoard off the coast in order to fool two spying newspaper reporters that they really do have treasure. The plan works and news of the island's fortune spreads to the mainland, where hoards of tourists make their way across to seek their fortune. German divers Max and Ilsa recover a chest full of gold bars but when Hawkins was told to send the fake chest to the mainland he sends the one with the gold in error, which ends up in a Napoleonic display at Madame Tussaud's. A plan is needed to get the gold back without alerting the authorities.

A visiting professor inspects the gold the Germans produced and gives Tom and Polberry the bad news that it's all fake. When Wing Commander Rogue confronts the German scientists they tell him the sunken Spanish galleon was a story they made up, but in reality they suspect instead that the island has huge oil reserves. They fly out to sea to show that they have an oil rig heading towards the island. Before drilling starts the team need to get rid of treasure hunters by convincing them that all the gold finds are fake.

The oscillating devices used on the seabed around Rogue's Rock are exploding causing the oil rig to break up. The same devices were made on the island on the instructions of visiting U.S. oil executive Hank for distribution around the world's oil rigs. Ilsa, Max and the gang become suspicious of Hank's motives and discover that he is an industrial espionage agent using the island as a base to sabotage the world's oil production. He plans to turn his own American business 'Phoenix Oil' into the only oil producing company in the world, but Wing Commander Rogue comes up ...
