Rolf finds a love letter in his apartment and he thinks it is from a secret lover to Bettan. Rolf then finds out that "the secret lover" is Conny Raberud.

The building's heating boiler is broken and it is freezing cold. Betta can't stand the cold and goes to her mother, but Rolf stays at home and catches a cold. At the same time, Rolf is being considered as manager of the tramway in Majorna.

Rolf has become treasurer at the billiards club and has received 5,000 kroner, but when he gets home he discovers that the money is gone. At Hilding's Corner, Rolf and Conny try to figure out how Rolf can get SEK 5,000 again.

Since Rolf and Conny are out together a lot instead of with their wives, Bettan and Monica decide to hang out with them regardless of what else Rolf and Conny want to do themselves.

Rolf meets a man in the park who has invented a means that can make hair grow back on e.g. the bald ones. The man offers Rolf to sell him the drug and Rolf accepts. But the man is actually a trickster.

Rolf has decided to take part in competitions that can be found on the food products. In e.g. In Slinka Slank's competition you can win a trip to the West Indies and Rolf wins that competition.

Rolf and Conny are going to buy a summer house for SEK 39,500 together, but Bettan and Monica don't appreciate it. But Bettan and Monica decide to look at the summer cottage anyway and then they are satisfied.

Bettan's mother Hjördis are living with her and Rolf for a while while as her apartment is being renovated and Rolf gets to live in the kitchen as usual. Three weeks later, Rolf begins to go insane.

Rolf and Conny are at the pool club when Monica calls and tells Conny to come home, but Rolf thinks that Monica won't leave him and Conny alone in their free time.

Betta has a job where she can work full time. Rolf is forced to pretend to be Bettan's brother because she wouldn't get the job if she is married. Rolf then begins to believe that the real reason is that Bettan's boss may bump into her.

Rolf comes home and tells him that a man has offered him a managerial job at a large insurance company. The man comes home to Rolf and says that he has got the job and he can then come over to the Palace Hotel.
