A young man is summoned to a different reality. He begins a search for who did this and why.

Subaru discovers that his special magical ability is quite a pain.

Subaru attempts to buy the insignia from Felt and return it to Satella before Elsa arrives at the loot house, but Satella arrives before the negotiations are complete, and Elsa still attacks them.

After being badly wounded by Elsa, Subaru somehow survived and awoke in the mansion of Margrave Mathers, in the Kingdom of Lugunica.

Subaru is hysteric after mysteriously Returning by Death in the middle of the night. Everything that he has accomplished so far; including his date with Emilia has completely vanished.

Subaru's first day at the Roswaal Mansion begins for a 3rd time. First, he died of weakness, and the second time, he was murdered by an attacker. Subaru makes it his mission to uncover the identity of the attacker.

The identity of the attacker is shockingly revealed to Subaru. Subaru can feel everything crumbling around him as he dies again. This loop however, the fourth night passes without incident and Subaru experiences a shocking revelation.

Subaru's first day in Roswaal's mansion begins for the fifth time. Determined to save everyone this time, he makes it a point to keep his best smile on his face in order to earn the trust of the mansion's staff.

As the pieces start to fall into place, Subaru realizes the shaman is in the village. He heads to the village with Ram and Rem in attempt to undercover the identity of the shaman. A jolting revelation sends Subaru into a frenzy.

After risking his life to save the children of the village, Subaru was so powerfully cursed that the only chance of survival was the complete extermination of the Ulgarm. Subaru is about to give up when he realizes Rem has disappeared.

Knocked unconscious by Subaru's attack, Rem dreams of an event in her past that she and Ram would rather forget. After waking up, she tells Subaru that she's just committed the same sin again.

By order of the council of elders, Wilhelm and Felis visit Roswaal's mansion as emissaries. Emilia and Subaru head to the imperial capital.

According to a new prophecy seen on the Dragon Stone, there are five priestesses with the potential to be the kingdom's next ruler.

Rejected by the one who meant more to him than anything, Subaru is still unable to recognize that he may have done something irreversible. He then finds out that some disturbing movement has been detected within Roswaal's domain.

Subaru stares off in horror amidst Rem's mangled corpse. Everyone in the mansion has been massacred. A resentful voice calls out to Subaru as both his mind and body violently break down among the bodies of the people he loves.

Subaru and rem look for assistance to save Emilia and all who reside in Roswaal's domain.

A beast looms over Subaru and his travelling companions. Among the thick fog and shrill cries of the massive figure, Rem decides to make the ultimate sacrifice for the person she loves the most in this world.

Subaru failed to protect everyone in the village after the witch cult killed everybody in there, then he was returned by death. Subaru tries to escape the land with Rem after giving up on everything until Rem starts speaking to him.

To save Emilia, Subaru approaches Crusch to negotiate the formation of an alliance. His terms are a bit difficult for Crusch to believe, but she can see that Subaru isn't lying.

The battle against the white whale begins.

Subaru and Rem lose all words at the sight unfolding above them. Just when it seemed they would soon have the White Whale cornered, the battle takes a turn that no one expected.

The mercenary army that had been blocking the road during the White Whale subjugation returns to join the main force. Under the leadership of Subaru, the mercenary force convenes on the Mathers domain to destroy the witch's cult.

Subaru and his companions head toward Roswaal's mansion to evacuate Emilia and all the others there, stopping at the nearby village on the way and beginning to evacuate its residents as well. However, the situation takes a turn that nobody expected.

Emilia tried to warn the villagers of Arlam that danger was coming and they should evacuate, but was not well-received. As she's pondering what more she can do, Wilhelm arrives at the mansion with a message.

Subaru and Julius are fighting Betelgeuse by utilizing spirit arts to allow Julius to see through Subaru's eyes. This time, however, Subaru speaks his 'Return by Death' to have Betelgeuse come in contact with the spirit of Satella.

Subaru and friends defeat the Demon Beast Wolgarm, the source of the curse, and save the children of Irlam village. The characters finally get a moment of peace, and Subaru goes on a certain secret mission that he must not let anyone find out about. However, even though Subaru is wearing a disguise, Petra and other children of the village immediately figure out who he is. Now that his mission was exposed within five seconds of it starting, Subaru's "date" with Emilia could be ruined.

This OVA shows Emilia and her meeting with Puck during the journey to Roswaal Mansion to be a candidate for the royal election.
