The holiday of Vantaa "Van" Hamilton, who grew up in California, in his mother's home country of Finland turns into a nightmare right on the border when he is handcuffed. The young man has conscription and is facing a year in the special forces.

Van believes he will be released, but Major Miettinen is unwilling to admit that Van's military assignment is a mistake. Van's girlfriend Rachel meets Van's cousin's rap band.

Chief Sergeant Parikka warns Van of the approaching parachute jump. Van tries to come up with a way to avoid the jump. Rachel becomes homeless on the streets of Helsinki.

Van plans to escape during the evening break, but drifts to Karaoke with Military Police Mintu.

The shooting test offers Van a chance to get fired from the army. Rachel becomes acquainted with the life philosophy of the alternative-rap band Full Moon's Awes.

Van arranges himself for the night watch to avoid an intimate evening with Mint. Rachel's video of rappers gets a lot of audience, but is completely misinterpreted.

The survival camp becomes more than just a workout for Van's team. Stenu believes Rachel sees this as a mere clown.

Weekend free. Finally, Rachel and Van get to spend time together figuring out the state of their relationship. Not.

Van's soap star father Bill arrives in Finland at the invitation of the head of Van's unit, but gets lost in Helsinki at night.

Van lose his assault rifle at the forest camp and sets out in search of it with Corporal Parika. Arguing with Stenu, Rachel is on her way home when a strange disease strikes the community.
