Rita returns to her work at the social welfare child protection unit after a police investigation. A child has disappeared, and Rita has been blamed. A new boss, Jyrki, has taken her place. Rita, who is tormented by nightmares, does not give up but wants to continue in the field. She gets the inexperienced Laura as a partner.

The lock: Rita and Laura try to help Kimi, who has been released from juvenile prison, to start over. The situation escalates surprisingly in school. Jyrki asks Laura to keep an eye on what stiff-necked Rita is doing. Jasmine's home conditions change dramatically.

Laura helps 16-year-old Jasmin, who has a secret. Difficulties in Jasmine's reorganized family lead to a dubious decision. Elli's mother Jessi surprisingly shows up at Rita's and demands justice. Jyrki is on site at a critical moment.

Rita and Laura must mediate in a custody dispute over a boy who has a seriously ill mother. The case is a trial for Laura. Jasmin does not show up at school but runs away with Mika and gets into trouble. Jyrki gets an opportunity to influence the future of child protection.

According to new information, Rita is convinced that Elli is alive and she starts desperately looking for her. Laura is tired but tries to find out what happened to Jasmin. Jasmine and Vanessa's merry Christmas noise is surprisingly interrupted.

Rita and Laura help Jasmin in her new life situation. Jyrki sets boundaries for Rita. At the same time, the situation in Laura's family becomes more difficult. Secrets begin to be revealed, and Rita is confronted with the truth. Vanessa makes independent choices.

New evidence leads the police to the child protection unit, and Rita goes through her past again. Laura investigates a case of illness at a youth home, her family gets to see themselves come second. Jyrki is beginning to realize the consequences of his choices. Jasmin tries to sort out her situation.
