Kajortoq, a young, hungry fox spirit finds a bunch of grapes hanging high on a tree.

The lands are blighted by the mystical black ick. While most of humans and spirits struggle to survive, four shamans - three monkeys and a bird - strive to contain the threat.

Young spirit Chalchiutlicue wonders why she has to wear a poppy-patterned coat in the middle of the winter.

On a calm winter day, three spirits, Chalchiutlicue, Kajortoq and Wrip, decide to make the time more pleasurable with the song.

Coyote spirit Huehuecoyotl becomes anxious of his neighbor - rattlesnake spirit Quetzalcoatl, so he decides to scare him in the same way as the snake scares coyote.

Huehuecoyotl is approached by Kajortoq and tasked with weeding her squash garden while she travels.

Ichabod the crane and Chalchiutlicue the basilisk get lost in the desert. When they find and old water pump and a jar full of water in the middle of nowhere they have different ideas of what to do with them.

Wrip steals fish from Chalchiutlicue's pond to feed the village of Hatfield that has been recently robbed. The basilisk spirit has a different idea of how to fix Hatfield's problem.

Wrip tries to reject Ichabod's advances gently, but fails. To cheer the crane up, his friends Chalchiutlicue and Huehuecoyotl set up a scary skeleton prank on Wrip and her partner Vinkle. Nothing goes according to their plan.

Vinkle has fallen comatose under the power of the Black Tezcatlipoca, an entity thought to be contained. All his spirit friends scramble to help him.

The spirits find that people in the McCoy village fallen into coma under the power of the Black Tezcatlipoca. They try to help them, but the village chief doesn't trust them anywhere near McCoy.

Ichabod wakes up and sees what he perceives as a dreadful omen. Nobody takes him seriously, until the disappearance of Kajortoq is discovered. He and Paula set up to discover what happened to her.

Ever watchful for bad omens Ichabod senses that something bad is going to happen in Hatfield village, so he and his friends set out there. While welcomed warmly, they quickly find out that the danger takes unexpected direction.

When the teenagers from warring Hatfield and McCoy villages meet in the woods and their dispute gets violent, they are suddenly surrounded by an illusion of images and sounds retelling the story of Mahtigwess and Lusifee.

Wolf spirit Amaroq fails to abduct Quetzalcoatl and the rattlesnake spirit escapes to his friends' house. Wrip, Vinkle and Chalchiutlicue try to calm him, but the stress soon makes him run amok, and Amaroq hasn't called off the hunt yet.

Xochiquetzal - one of the spirit shamans that sealed Black Tezcatlipoca - finds herself trapped in an otherworldly forest of Mictlan and is hunted by both the living and the dead.

Shaman Xochipilli requests help from the other spirits in finding his brother Ixtlilton. They debate how to use the artifact Tlaloc's Fork to find him, when it turns out that one of the spirits already caught the scent of the lost one.

With recent failure, the spirits wonder if they even have the power to remove dangerous Black Tezcatlipoca anymore. They take an opportunity to check that while helping humans put to coma. Unexpectedly, they find a new enemy - Black Bart.

In the face of another possible crisis the spirits split into two groups. One sets forth to find two remaining Black Tezcatlipoca pieces that are yet uncompromised. The other stays to help the two endangered villages in the vicinity.

The travelling spirits arrive in the town of Hollow. While Kajortoq looks for the jackalope to buy, the presence of crowds freaks out Quetzalcoatl. When lost and vulnerable in a foreign place he is found by the Black Bart.

The travelling spirits deal with adversities. The Black Bart is still hunting for Quetzalcoatl and tries to find his whereabouts from Chalchiutlicue. Kajortoq gets a visit from Angel and learns that she was swindled.

Ichabod and Paula are on a lookout for the shaman Xochiquetzal, but the bear spirit is distracted by the prospect of ice skating. She hires herself as a jackalope wrangler in exchange for two pairs of skates.

The spirits spend the evening in different ways - worrying, self-reflecting and playing hockey, but all that changes when the shaman Xochiquetzal arrives in Hollow and is immediately attacked by Black Bart.

Frida and Edmonia search for the former spirit of McCoy - Amaroq. When Jose from Hatfield learns of this he goes with Emily to stop McCoy teenagers. But both parties take path that may lead to Mictlan - the land of the dead.

While some spirits stay in Hollow to help Ichabod that fell under the power of Black Tezcatlipoca, Kajortoq, Chalchiutlicue and Quetzalcoatl set out to collect the Red Tezcatlipoca, except their jackalope isn't cooperative.

Unconscious Ichabod is transported to the Vineyard Institute, where the men of science set out to help him and solve the enigma of the Black Tezcatlipoca with it. To increase their chances Xochiquetzal goes to search for other bright minds.

Amaroq tries to deal with the rebellious Charles, but the boy doesn't plan to stay put when the wolf spirit has to leave to save two human Mictlan trespassers.

Two magical dolls make Huehuecoyotl go on a quest to find two missing teenagers.

Quetzalcoatl's nightmare makes Chalchiutlicue look around the camp in the night. It turns out that the object of Corn's fear is indeed nearby.

Paula and Alexander set out to the copper mine to get the material that may allow to cure Ichabod's condition. They become a bit competitive about the mining.

Teenage Ichabod and Kajortoq are lead by Clark to what he believes is a damaged spaceship. When his companions evaluate the wreckage otherwise, he puts them all in danger.

Amaroq looks for his kid, marshal Bass looks for missing asylum residents, asylum escapees don't fit well in their temporary residence in Vineyard Institute. And Black Bart again meets Xochiquetzal, whose seal he so much desires.

Young Amaroq and Huehuecoyotl are put on the polar sides of the feud of Hatfield and McCoy villages, but Huey tries to make friends with the spirit from the opposite camp.

As Kitty, Calamity, and Corn travel to Tonazitli, Huey hunts to find out Amaroq's plan for world-domination- instead, learning a bit about his, Angel and Charles's backstory.

While on their way to Tonaltztli, Kitty, Calamity, and Corn gain an unlikely new ally who seems to need their help just as much as they need his. They meet back up with Murder, but when they finally get the chance to see the Mercy Bow, things start to melt down.

After de-icking the Temple, Charles is left with a couple missing body parts and some newfound important jobs. Kitty gets a rather dramatic costume change. Calamity and Huey find Corn, who seems to have gotten a rather dramatic personality shift that weirds some of the others out.

As Charles recovers from his injuries, Corn plays ball game with a few of the village people. Meanwhile, Calamity and Amaroq start to see weird figures in the mirrors around town, to their growing suspicion. After the ball game, Corn and the others return to give the earth what it is owed, but that doesn't seem to be enough to stop the shadows.

After recovering as much as he can from his injuries, Charles is charged with the duty of freeing those still sealed by the Black Tezcatlipoca as well as figuring out how to fix the temple that he broke. Shadows continue to terrorize the city, Charles, and the oddly-behaving Corn. Charles receives a mysterious gift from Mama Spider.

Kitty, Amaroq, Charles, Calamity, Corn, and Huey return to Hallow to free the last of those covered in the black ick- Ichabod and those in Vineyard. Corn is arrested for an incident that occurred during their first visit. After receiving his own costume change, Charles finds out exactly why Ichabod is difficult to free.

Unable to be properly charged for his crime, Corn's status as perceived danger means he has to spend some time at Blackwell- the town of Hollow's insane asylum. His time there is consistently disturbed by the uncaring nurses and the ever-haunting shadows in anything with a reflection that he seems to be unable to touch.

Paula, who's been helping folks around Hollow, is caught up on everything that's been going on. She recruits Wrip, Vinkle, and Xochiquetzal to help George, the jackalope seller, deliver pamphlets on healthy growing cycles and fertilizer information to the towns of McCoy and Hatfield. The human children; Emily, Edmonia, Jose and Frida; decide they want to help get both the villages tricked into helping each other.

Kitty, Ichabod, and Charles go to release Corn from jail. On the way they run into Clark, who's planning on going to Salem to help get some of the jailed Vineyard staff freed. At the jail, they discover Corn has been taken to Blackwell, after which they promptly decide they have to break him out. Corn is forced to face his reflection.

Calamity plots Corn's escape from Blackwell. Charles escorts Kitty, Ichabod, and Clark to Salem, where Clark goes through the legal process needed to free the inmates from the jail. Ichabod gives Charles some helpful tips on lessening the scope of his seemingly impossible task.

Calamity and Amaroq go through with their plan to rescue Corn, only to find him banished to the Mirrors and an axolotl-type creature chasing them with unknown intent. Mirror-bound Corn explains his situation to Calamity, but when she and Amaroq acquire the Mercy Bow, the axolotl-Corn manages to get it and put an end to the affair.
