A strange and mysterious figure, Gabriel, arrives on Thornton Street and questions the residents about Jane's disappearance and their own scandalous private lives.

Rachel delights in her scheming over Sam. Mike visits his therapist and admits he thinks he is gay. New evidence comes to light over Jane's disappearance.

Roxanne finally tells Natalie about Duncan's affair. Holly plays mind games with Alex. Natalie is furious with Duncan.

Alex asks Roxanne to marry him. Rachel tells Dennis he has to retake his exams before leaving school. Mike and Fiona's son, Tom, takes a shine to Holly.

Fiona and Rachel compete for the job of deputy head, and Rachel is willing to sabotage the competition to gain the position.

Roxanne puts an end to Dennis' relationship with Holly, but her actions lead Alex to believe Holly will reveal everything about his affair with Jane.

Mike admits to Fiona that he wants another baby, while Della admits that she fancies her teacher.

Roxanne is nervous about her forthcoming wedding with Alex, while Josh investigates the possibility that the halfway house might be haunted.

Charlie tries to get in touch with his son, Django. Natalie admits to Duncan that she wants to move away from Thornton Street.

Della thinks that Josh and Kate are seeing each other, and Della later finds out that Josh fancies her. As Josh and Della go to kiss, Josh collapses. Ryan and Kate, both watching, step in to help Josh.

Natalie bumps into an old flame, Woody. Rachel holds a party, but it ends in disaster. Fiona suspects she may be going blind.

The police find Jane's keyring, holding a key that no one recognizes, except Alex, who worries that the police are about to find his and Jane's love nest.

Mike becomes fascinated with Django, and Django tries to kiss his stepmother Donna. Natalie struggles to have some quality time with Ryan. Frankie and Will find themselves at each other's throats.

A lonely, desperate and drunk Natalie sets her mind on considering how life might have been if Jane was still around. In her alternative reality, Jane is pregnant and is marrying Sam because he believes it's his baby. Or is it?

Josh continues to suffer from Blackouts. Natalie gets drunk and makes a decision about her husband Duncan.

Woody struggles to tell Dennis about his father, Fiona's identical sister Gwen arrives, and Alex suspects he is being followed.

Roxanne is frightened by the new midwife who she has been assigned: a face from the past, who helped deliver Jane and Della. Meanwhile, Tom's birthday doesn't go exactly to plan.

Della receives several spooky phone calls. Later, when Roxanne falls down the stairs, she shows Della some threatening letters she has been receiving.

Django claims to have been offered a job writing songs in Hollywood. Fiona is distracted; she mistakenly thinks Kate is having a fling with Will and confronts him.
