The journeywoman of the carpenter's guild Karla Altmann shows up in Büttenwarder to temporarily find work and accommodation. Kuno sends her to the Brakelmann farm. She likes it immediately and apparently a skilled craftswoman is needed. But Adsche has no work or accommodation to offer and advises the craftswoman to look around the village. The journeywoman cannot be brushed off and asks Adsche to help her find a job in the village. For that she was ready to do fifty-fifty with him on the profit. While secretly poaching, Adsche and Hajo discover a domestic pig with a leash - but without a master. Hajo is amazed to see that it is "Bertha", his daughter Fine's favorite pig. Hajo on the other hand sold "Bertha" to Shorty after it bit Hajo's wife Britta. After a quick check at Shorty's, Hajo and Adsche realize that Bertha is obviously blessed with the ability to find truffle mushrooms - hence the muzzle. Nominal value is in the air.

Translating as "News from Büttenwarder", the series recounts the modern day trials and tribulations of a small, out-of-the way north German village. The action usually revolves around the village pub "Unter den Linden" and its cast of regular drinkers. Events are often precipitated by the arrival of outsiders with modern ideas which are sometimes met with suspicion but more often with overenthusiastic interest, especially if it might mean some revenue for the impoverished residents.
