The Bears are an underachieving group of teenagers who sit in last place in their division. They are coached by an elderly man, "Ded," which translates to "Grandpa" or "Old Man," who has led them since they were young. In fact, Kislyak, the most impudent player, has memorized most of the "Old Man's" pet phrases. They constantly underachieve, so their coach quits. A figure skater attracts Ponomaryov, who, we learn, has to deal with an alcoholic father and who works as a courier to provide for his grandmother. Kislyak's father continues to put pressure on him to get back together with Yana, who has complete lost interest in him. Sasha Kostrov's parents hire a tutor so that he can balance his studies and hockey. It turns out the tutor works at the same institute Yana attends. Alina's skating partner warns Misha to stay away from her. We finally learn why Anton Antipov left the team. That doesn't stop Sergei Petrovich, who tries to get Anton to return to provide the team with some offense.

Anton's arrival to the Bears creates discord, but the team, led by its captain Egor, handles it. Misha arrives home to find his grandmother distraught because their savings has disappeared. All signs point to Misha's alcoholic father. Alina's mother wants her daughter to concentrate on skating, not Sasha. The game with the Lions starts out well, but the ending leaves something to be desired. The team continues to play as individuals, so Sergei Petrovich and Vasgen try a new approach to get them to play together. Misha is late for the game because he ends up at the police station. Galina, Alina's mother, has a talk with Misha. Kislyak tries to manipulate the relationship between Sasha and Yana. And Kalinin, the team's sponsor, is less than impressed with Vadim's commercial.

Stepan Arkadievich, the Bears former coach, returns to visit the team. He has since taken over the head job for the Bears' next opponent. He makes Makin an offer. Sergei Petrovich helps Iulia Borisovna fend off a mugger, but hurts himself in the process. She in turn helps him get back to his apartment. Nazarov witnesses the encounter. Kislyak is up to his usual tricks, this time trying to deceive his ex-girlfriend Yana and her new interest, Sasha Kostrov. Sasha teaches Yana how to skate.

Sergei Petrovich's painkillers are no longer working as his old knee injury flares up. Vasgen takes him to a specialist, who insists he stay in bed for a week. As a result, Romanenko takes over the coaching duties. Kislyak's ruse on Yana and Sasha becomes more intense. Misha and his grandmother plan to go to the cemetery to commemorate the tenth anniversary of his mother's death. His alcoholic father, however, upsets their plans. Anton and his mother have a heart-to-heart conversation about her personal life.

Misha finds a new part-time job thanks to Vasgen; it's quite different from his previous work as a courier. The day of the match with Khimiki finally arrives, and the boys surprise their temporary coach with some line adjustments. Although Sergei Petrovich cannot leave his apartment, he is given updates nearly play-by-play from Yulia and Vasgen. The team's owner makes an appearance after the game.

The team prepares for a 2-game road trip. Yuri Mikhailovich still leads the practice session, but Sergei Petrovich's knee improves every day, and he plans to rejoin the team in time for the trip, frustrating Yuri's ambitions. Kislyak's father's birthday party reveals the truth about Yana's relationship with the younger Kislyak. A city-wide competitive math exam makes juggling studies and hockey even harder for Dima. Marina doesn't feel so good.

The team takes a road trip to play two against "Tornado." Nazarov uses his new videocamera to capture some of the action on the trip. Romanenko also videotapes some action. Marina gets some news about her love life. A thief appears in the locker room, which threatens to upset the new-found unity on the team.

The search for the thief continues, and Anton is worried that his teammates don't believe him. Alina once again visits the restaurant where Misha works. Kislyak hesitates in responding to Marina's request for money.

Sergei Petrovich uses logic to catch the thief. Misha gets fired from his job as a bouncer, and it might be his last for a while. Kislyak's father is determined to interfere in his son's affairs. Sasha learns that his father is not the man he appears to be, and Sergei Petrovich has a surprise visitor.

The flu bug hits the team. It sidelines some players, but it gives others new opportunities. Sergei Petrovich's ex-fiancee tries to meddle in his life. Misha's father continues his road to recovery from alcohol, while Alina and Misha reconcile. Marina decides to take matters in her own hands, but her ability to keep it a secret is challenged.

Anton tries to get Olga to interview only him, but a certain player's father insists on taking part in the discussion. It's Sergei Petrovich's 35th birthday, and he gets some presents. Kalinin is very generous with his coach, but Sergei Petrovich doesn't seem to know what to do with that gift. The team struggles to find the perfect present, yet they finally do with Olga's help. Meanwhile, Sasha not only refuses to forgive his father for cheating on his mother, he also makes some dramatic changes in his life. While one member of the Antipov family seems to be losing a love relationship, the other member seems to be finding one.

Sergei Petrovich's new car is stolen, and all signs point to one person. Dima is fully recovered from the flu, but he faces a difficult conflict between hockey and his studies. His brother Yegor is finally released from the hospital and gets a surprise offer for a ride home. The team's game is finally rescheduled, and they seem prepared for it. Sasha continues to have difficulty interacting with his father, who has moved out of the apartment.

Misha learns that his grandmother needs surgery to survive her heart problems, but he and his now-sober father cannot afford it. They seek a loan at a bank where Alina's mother works. Bakin struggles with his conscience at the offer Vadim Iurevich makes him. He doesn't know where to turn. Yana is about to celebrate a birthday party, and Kislyak wants to the opportunity to change his relationship with her. Marina plans a surprise for a celebration with Egor, but he is exhausted after practice. Dima's former coach makes him an offer.

And MIsha resolves the situation with his grandmother.

Anton struggles to tell Olga why they can no longer see each other. Sasha looks for a job to pay for the telephone he buys Yana. Kislyak learns from a hacker that Kristina is not who she seems to be. Vadim Iurevich gets an offer to make money for the team, and he recommends Kislyak for the job. Dima is bored with no hockey in his life. A stranger saves Bakin from having to pay a fine for riding the bus without a ticket.

Sergei Petrovich brings in an old friend to help the team prepare for the playoffs. Working on the side draws many of the players into new positions: Sasha begins work for a moving company, Olga's resignation means that the team needs some web page help, and Kislyak gets several of his teammates to join him on another hockey-playing venture. Misha's father considers new housing arrangements. Sergei Petrovich and Yulia go out for dinner and dancing.

Sergei Petrovich returns and finds Vadim Iurevich drunk in his office. Oleg Ivanovich joins them for a discussion that clears the air. Misha gets a visit from a KHL representative. Olga tries to get her old job back, and the cheerleaders organize a party for the boys.

The party ends with Marina's past destroying more than friendship between Shchukin and Kislyak. Only one can remain on the team. Romanenko and the KHL agent pay a visit to Misha's apartment and meet his grandmother and father. Their conversation changes MIsha's plans for the future. Kazantsev tells Romanenko what he really thinks of him. Sergei Petrovich has an honest conversation with Yegor. Bakin brings Rita home to meet his parents. The boys continue to prepare for the final with Khimik.

Vasgen happens to see a near accident, and it causes him to lose his temper. He faces serious consequences as a result of it. Kostrov returns from Germany with increased mobility in his shoulder. Alina's parents invite Misha, his father, and his grandmother for a family celebration. Several folks continue to give Egor advice about his role as captain of the team. Anton asks his biological father to return to have a conversation with Sergei Petrovich. The team continues to prepare for the final with Khimik.
