Julio Jaramillo, 18 years old, arrives late to the amateur contest of Radio Ortiz in Guayaquil in 1955, finally he is allowed to compete. Although he does not win, he wins the applause of the public and the admiration of Linda.

Encouraged by his teacher, Julio visits the only record label in town.

Newly married and without a job, Julio and Rosalino convince Mamita to lend them money to try their luck in Colombia. La Mamita reluctantly agrees and Julio and Rosalino arrive in Cali with a lot of dreams and $20 in their pockets.

Once in Guayaquil, Julio is forced to return to the shoe store, where he is given his job back, but with certain conditions. As expected, Julio will have to endure the mockery of his co-worker.

The radios of the city do not stop playing Fatalidad, in the voice of a boy named Julio Jaramillo Laurido. At the shoe store they can't believe that Julio is the singer of the moment.

Julio records Nuestro Juramento in bolero rhythm and almost immediately, against all odds, it becomes the biggest hit of all time. But not only in Ecuador, but in all America.

After Julio's success in the Southern Cone, the other Ecuadorian singer who has been successful for many years in Colombia, Olimpo Cardenas, decides to challenge him to a musical duel, and Julio accepts the challenge.

Julio Jaramillo receives an invitation from Mexico, where he is expected to be honored and sign several contracts. However, when he is about to board the plane, he is stopped by an army officer.

After finishing his military service and before leaving for Venezuela and Mexico, Julio wants to say goodbye to Linda and his son, but only his mother-in-law and his two-year-old son are waiting for him.

Nancy's mother confesses to be a great fan and Julio invites them, again and again, to all his presentations. Thus, the love between Julio and Nancy begins to blossom.

Julio stays a year in Mexico and returns to Venezuela, where all the media are reporting the news. This is what Nancy Arroyo has been waiting for, as she has just turned 18 and is of legal age.

Nancy Arroyo, Jaramillo's widow, narrates the return to Guayaquil, where Julio thought he was not wanted, but the reception is so spectacular that Nancy and her son get lost in the crowd and the police have to look for her.
