Max and his friends find their newly acquired Ouija board makes surprisingly accurate predictions.

When his school holds a career day, Max looks at options for his future. Max's father and grandfather have a disagreement over the family business, leaving the elder Glick to reflect on his past career and possibilities for his own future.

Max can't understand why his family tolerates visits from his abrasive Aunt Sophie, until he inadvertently discovers some secrets about her past.

Max glimpses another side of his father when Sarah travels to the city, leaving the two alone for the night.

Max tries to find a date for his best friend Dougie with little success.

Max and his pals take a stand against racism in an episode that recalls the latter half of 1964, when Canada was choosing a new flag. Trouble begins when the class is asked to enter new flag designs in a contest, with first prize being a free trip to Ottawa. But when Max learns that the original winner has been relegated to runner up because he's Chinese, he abandons the flag-waving and sets out on the revenge trail.

Max becomes concerned about the hereafter when his grandfather decides to buy a family burial plot.

Rabbi Teitleman has returned to the U.S. to honor his draft notice rather than obtain religious exemption, and Max has a hard time understanding his decision.
