Nashville producer Elliot Lieberman discovers Charlotte and her boyfriend, guitar player Davis Gabbert, at The Golden Light in Amarillo, TX and invites them to Nashville to test out their songwriting legs. After a cross-country drive and a night of no sleep in their new dump of a duplex, Charlotte and Davis land a writing session with well-known Nashville songwriter Marshall Tracy.

After a disastrous first writing room session, the duo must confront the odds of their music dreams becoming a reality. Charlotte's talent begins to outshine Davis. She's given a choice to write without him or go back to Amarillo. Jealousy and doubt plague the couple.

Davis has been sidelined and feels betrayed by Charlotte's welcome into the most exclusive writers' room in Nashville.

For the first time in years, Charlotte is on her own, navigating a new city and the high-stakes of songwriting in Music City. She draws strength from her faith and takes a big chance partnering with Marshall.

Charlotte and Emily reconcile after they realize their shared experiences as female songwriters in Nashville. Marshall and Charlotte bond over their songs.

Charlotte is confronted by Davis, eager to reconcile. A meeting with agent Dan Barnes leads to Charlotte reeling an inappropriate advance.

Charlotte and Emily score a coveted spot at Whiskey Jam. Charlotte's impromptu performance of "Back Alley Boo" - which was clearly inspired by Marshall - leads to a romantic encounter.

Marshall and Charlotte are closer than ever. Rising country star Lindsay Ell records one of Charlotte and Emily's tracks. They gain momentum as a songwriting force to be reckoned with. Charlotte is in complete shock when a country superstar wants to record one of her songs. A radio interview with Bobby Bones is the culmination of all her hard work and dreams.
