A young boy escapes an abusive home life with his alcoholic mother by dreaming of being a champion boxer.

A gang of children run wild in the sand dunes near their holiday camp. When a new boy arrives and tries to join in, the leader of the gang establishes his authority by inventing rules and bullying the new boy.

After the death of his wife, George decides to honour her memory by placing a bench at the bus stop. He befriends a teenager and they help each other overcome grief.

Steve is just an average teenager who wants to make it through the day without dying of embarassment. His father, however, is a macho unreconstructed male who wants his son to be more like him.

A young boy, Bryn, mourns the loss of his brother Johnner who has died in a car accident. Bryn blames himself because he had taken his brother's watch and he thinks this made Johnner late and therefore he was driving too fast.

Gran, her daughter, and two children rely on the mobile library. When they hear that the council is about to shut it down, they start a petition, but when that fails, they decide to steal the van and run the library themselves.
