Apple's first day back to school is prefaced with a warning from her mother not to cause a scene or get in trouble. Apple listens, barely. Who knew a simple walk to school could be so...taxing.

Ms. Kim, Apple's teacher, knows what's on this year's curriculum. And according to the school district, Christopher Columbus discovered America. But that's not something Apple will accept.

Parenting while Black brings its own blessings and trials. Add Little Apple's knack for accuracy and you have Charlene balancing being a disciplinarian while still protecting Apple's fierce yet gentle development.

After a very trying day, Little Apple must now explain her actions to her father. She'll explain, but there's irony in her correction.

Little Apple has had a trying first week of school, the last thing she wants to worry about it is the safety of her parents. But when her father suggests entering potentially dangerous spaces, Apple's aura reacts.

All Apple and her friends want to is play basketball. And even that proves to be a difficulty. But no matter, she's full of ideas.
