At the end of the 20th century the Bordeleau form a large family of boys and girls. Emily, the eldest daughter of the farmer named Caleb, becomes the school teacher in a small village - St-Tite. She must impose her authority, as some of her students are not much younger than her.

Inspired by Dosithée Pronovost, neighbor and curator of the school, Emily is preparing a big party at school before Christmas for the favor of the villagers and reward students. At first, she was discouraged, but his stubbornness allows him to organize a party that proves successful.

Lazarus Pronovost has a seizure in class. A new friendship is born between Emilia and one of his pupils, Charlotte, who has serious problems.
