Flor's mother flies in from Argentina to be with Flor who is still in a coma in the beginning of the show but she recuperates and is able to have surgery. While Oscar and his mother, disagree on what to do, leaving Lorene in the dark. Oscar's mother makes a rash decision that may have grave consequences. Bertha and her mother and aunt struggle to find a balance and figure out everyone's role in their family dynamic. Anna's and German's relationship may cost Anna her future due to a scorn fiancé, Montes, who is Anna's lawyer.

Laila struggles with being proud of her Moroccan heritage and living in Barcelona, after an unexpected refugee is put in her path. After spending a little bit of time and speaking to the Moroccan refugee she feels as though she is able to connect and understand his struggles in a way that her friends and boyfriend could never understand. She makes a proud bold statement at their next hockey game which causes her to become a victim of racial slurs and violence from the other team.
