Marja Kuijpers is looking forward to an intimate Christmas together with her new lover Hans, when unexpectedly her sons Frank and Casper appear at the door with their families - surprise. Marja gently tries to steer them away, but nevertheless they decide to stay with her for Christmas. On top of that nosy neighbor Annabel intrudes with her daughter Myrthe. Only Hans, who has been presented to everyone as a handyman by Marja, has to leave the field much to her regret.

Marja promises Hans that she'll informs her sons about their affair, but she's too embarrassed to tell them and is afraid that she pushes Hans into the arms of neighbor Annabel. Lilian, Frank's ex wife, is jealous of the young, beautiful and perfect Caro who has conquered Frank's heart. She wants to prove that Caro is the result of Frank's midlife crisis and she starts to challenge her. But can she win?

Lilian wants Frank to open his eyes in his choice for Caro and seems to be quite convincing. But does she fight this battle in an honest way? Marja tries to prevent that her secret love for Hans is revealed with a racy painting. And when Renée receives another offensive Christmas gift, she finally opens up and years of restrained frustration pour out, in which she does not spare anyone's feelings. Frank makes a shocking discovery during the preparations for the Christmas dinner.

Lilian supports Frank when he realizes that he made the wrong choice with Caro. Casper tries to persuade Renée to join the Christmas dinner, but Renée is too ashamed of what she has said to everyone. During the Christmas dinner, it appears that the children of Casper and Renée made a movie with their phones about the whole family. There are a few painful revelations with major consequences.

Now that Frank finds out the truth about Lilian, he desperately longs for Caro, but Caro is nowhere to be found. Casper has to bow down to Renée when she finds out that he lied to her. Hans and Marja make fun of Annabel and she leaves the house offended. Mike is too shy to look at Myrthe at all and Lilian has blown it with everyone. In short, the Christmas dinner is a big failure. Or can it still be saved?
