Calvin Boulet and his new partner, Trevor Cobb, investigate a murder and a series of shootings that are taking place during fund raising events to help the Ninth Ward section of New Orleans.

A prison escape case leads Boulet and Cobb to a scandal that goes all the way to the top of the Orleans Parish corrections system.

A city councilman is found dead in the Mississippi River. The case is tied to a prostitute connected to both the councilman and a Latino gang leader terrorizing the few remaining residents of the near-deserted section of New Orleans East.

A murdered woman turns out to be an ex-battered wife with an assumed identity, and Cobb's former cellmate's ex gets in trouble with the law because of Cobb's mistake.

Boulet and Cobb respond to reports of a shooting during a church service. Boulet was a former parishioner at the church, and the investigation exposes some bad blood between him and the church's pastor.

Cobb infiltrates the gang he belonged to before he went to prison--partly to help a murder investigation, partly to protect his own identity.

When a plastic surgeon is found murdered Cobb and Boulet attempt to track down the killer.

The body of a crooked insurance adjuster is found in a burned-down home, and Boulet's ex-partner makes a secret deal with Captain Embry to get his job back.

Boulet discovers that a man he rescued from a rooftop during Hurricane Katrina is a neighborhood thug shaking down businesspeople in the French Quarter.

Boulet and Cobb are forced to have a newspaper reporter from New York City tag along on their shift, as they try to find out who killed a man who accidentally witnessed a murder and threatened to talk.
