Amy judges the case of a teenager accused of arson, who is rumored to be the son of a mafia captain. Maxine tries to support a couple whose young adopted daughter shows signs of significant emotional disturbance from previous abuse.

Maxine disappears suddenly, prompting Vincent and Sean to worry.

Maxine makes a great effort to track down the former dog of a little girl who has had a series of awful experiences. Amy presides of the case of a teenager illegally playing the stock market, and another who is the head of a school gang.

Maxine ruffles feathers at Sanctuary House, and is offered a difficult choice by Jared. Amy presides over a case involving conjoined twins, and Carole makes it hard for Vincent to support her after she hears some bad news.
