Two years have passed since Silverhojd was rocked by harrowing events, and Eva has since returned to her job with Stockholm's city police. Eva is trying to move on, but struggles with her grief over Josefin and the pain that the Jordskott causes her. Eva soon finds herself being drawn into a mysterious case with a connection to her own past, and is forced to confront the mystical world she decided to put behind her.

The search continues for Robin, the missing girl, and Eva's situation is complicated by her unexpected responsibility for the runaway, Kalem. Eva and Wass dig deeper into the investigation and find something that belonged to Eva's mother long ago. Bahar becomes increasingly suspicious of Eva and Wass' behavior. In their hunt for the culprit, Eva and Wass find evidence that the person they are looking for has killed many times before. Meanwhile, Tom is drawn into a case of a brutal bear attack in Silverhöjd that elicits interest from an unexpected source.

Eva and Wass visit an ancient site and find shocking evidence that the lives of more children are in danger. Esmeralda and Maja travels to Stockholm in a railway wagon.

Eva is back at Thörnbladska farm but not the way she had imagined. Dr. Koljonen makes a shocking discovery. In Stockholm, Bahar comes closer to revealing Eva's and Wass's lies. Maja and Esmeralda's new friendship is getting deeper, but the brothers Olsson are on their trail. Eva looks for the old witch Ylva and finds a shocking truth.

Bahar continues to look for proof that Eva is involved in the death of Desiree and makes a strange discovery. Eva finds evidence from the past that makes her mother remember more. Tom makes a decision that is irreversible. Kalem and Ida look for Robin's kidnappers and take great risks to find her. Wass is forced to do something against his will to avert a disaster.
