The Lindemanns are the German owners of the relatively small family run Hotel Paradies on the island of Mallorca. Their rival Kroll, wealthy owner of a nearby luxury hotel, sabotages their business in an effort to force them into selling the place to him.

Max Lindemann is under financial pressure when the bank refuses to extend his loan, and on top of that there a is series of thefts in the hotel. Renate Feller, a guest in the hotel, goes to see her husband who, after faking his death in an insurance scam, has set up a car rental business on the island. She wants to join him, but he, having a new Spanish girlfriend, advises caution and suggests she return to the house in Germany and give it more time.

Lisa's mother is visiting from Germany and promptly the bickering starts between her and Max's father. Renate Feller, still on the island meets Jens Hartman, but he is jealous because she goes to see Harald at his car rental place. Harald has similar problems with his Spanish girlfriend.

Max is jealous because hotel manager Philip Jasny pays so much attention to Lisa and her paintings. When Jasny shows one of Lisa's paintings to a gallerist on the island who puts it on display in her gallery, a wealthy patron of the arts recognizes Lisa's talent. Among the current hotel guests are two middle aged people, who were lovers in their youth. Now widowed, they spend their holidays in Mallorca, one in the company of the daughter, the other in the company of the son. And while the very different temperaments of the ex-lovers still clash, the younger generation...

A hotel guest gets hurt on an excursion into the mountains and finds refuge from a thunderstorm in a cave inhabited by hermit, another German ex-pat living in Mallorca. Lionel Horck persuades Lisa to agree to a public exhibition of her paintings in the local art gallery, Max is jealous and son Frank is involved in a fender bender with the daughter of his father's arch rival Kroll.

A Romeo and Juliet romance develops between Michael Lindemann and Sarah Kroll, the daughter of his father's arch rival. When they set out on a drive into the mountains to retrieve a car abandoned there by one of the hotel guests, they are followed by Kroll's bouncer who acts as Sarah's body guard. But even he can't prevent them from spending the night together in the hermit's cave when bad weather makes a return home impossible. Both fathers are furious about the friendship between their offspring.

Lisa and Frank Lindemann meet people who played important parts in their lives in the past. And so does Harald Kuhn who is recognized by somebody who knew him in his former life.

Lisa's ever increasing recognition as a painter is beginning to irritate Max, and when an exhibition of her work is to take place in his arch-rival Kroll's luxury hotel, he is anything but enthusiastic. Meanwhile a pair of actors staying in the Hotel Paradies are using their holiday to rehearse their dialogue for a stage play. When the somewhat naive elderly couple in the adjoining room overhear the heated dialogue of a marital quarrel, they are concerned but hesitate to get involved in other people's business. The exhibition of Lisa's paintings in Kroll's hotel is a huge success, with everybody who is anybody in the world of art attending. Only husband Max is hesitant to set foot in his arch-rival's establishment. However, when he does and arrives as the last guest at the big event, his jealousy of both hotel manager Philip Jasny and Lisa's former art professor is finally dissipated when he learns that both men have a woman in their life and their interest in Lisa is not of a romantic nature. While riding his motorbike up in the mountains, Michael meet the girl Isolde, an eccentric and colourful bird of paradise who is a keen painter and, at present, stony broke and hungry. He brings her home to the hotel, where he puts her up and feeds her. Isolde makes a bit of money doing portraits of the hotel guests, but can't produce anything like the artful paintings she had shown Michael at the time of their first meeting. Blackmailer Stronk is back on the island, and so are Renate Feller and her lover Jens Hartmann. When Stronk suggests a drive into the mountains, where he intends to find Renate's husband and prove to her that he knows he is alive, Renate and Jens decide to take their own car. In a dangerous bend in the mountain road, Stronk's car leaves the road and crashed into a deep ravine. Stronk is killed in the accident. The only witnesses of the accident are the two passengers in the following car, Renate's husband Harald Kuhn, and the hermit in whose cave Harald has been ...

The Spanish police is investigating the accident in the mountains which killed Stronk. Jens Hartmann is getting so nervous about the constant questioning by the local inspector that he goes so far as to suggest to Renate to tell the truth about her husband the whole insurance scam. Frank Lindemann has traveled to Germany, where he is seen by Natalie's uncle, an eminent surgeon who thinks that an operation can cure the paralysis of his legs.

Three young bachelors are making advances to the introverted Katinka, a single young woman staying at the hotel. To escape the trio of would be suitors, Katinka happily accepts the invitation of Dr Holm, a sophisticated lawyer and author some 25 years older than her, to show her the beauty spots of the island. Michael Lindemann, his leg still in plaster after an accident at a cross country motorbike race, finds use for Frank's now unwanted wheelchair. And when the attention of his devoted "nurses" Isolde and Sarah gets too much for him, he goes so far as to ...

After dinner and too much wine to forbid either of them to drive, the quiet young woman Katinka spends the night in Dr Holm's house. At the Hotel Paradise there is much excitement as arch-rival Kroll's flamboyant wife Rosita checks in. After being left by her Argentinian lover for whom she had deserted her husband, Kroll is refusing her entry to his hotel.

Misunderstandings between Katinka and her older lover lead to her decision to leave the island prematurely and Rosita's birthday party at the Hotel Paradies ends with a big fight.

Lisa is beleaguered by hotel guests who are set to purchase a painting from her. She also has reluctantly agreed to paint a portrait of Sarah which is to be an anniversary present for Sarah's parents. A young man staying at the hotel is obsessed with the beautiful Sarah, Isolde finally tells Michael that she loves him and would leave Horck's house at the drop of a hat to be with him if he will have her, and there is much excitement about the disappearance of a painting.

Frank wants more responsibility in the hotel, and the search for a stolen portrait yields some interesting results. Max is concerned when a lady settles her bill early, gives away her belongings and leaves the hotel early the next morning.

Max Lindemann wants to provide for the future of his two sons. It is clear that Frank will eventually take over the hotel, and he plans to purchase Kuhn's garage and car hire business on the island for petrol-head Michael to take over once he finishes his apprenticeship as a mechanic. Among the current hotel guests are Evelyn Haupt and her lover. She believes he has finally left his wife for good and is ready to commit a new life with her. But when she finds at the airport that she has forgotten her vanity case in the hotel, there is a rude awakening when she sees her...

The mishap of the forgotten vanity case has brought Ulrich Merz and his lover Evelyn back to the Hotel Paradies. Things get complicated when Ulrich's wife also arrives at the hotel. Isolde finally finds love, Michael Lindemann is working full time in Kuhn's garage and a young hotel guest who had his money stolen starts working in the hotel kitchen to keep him going. And then there is Kroll's silver wedding anniversary.

Lisa and Max Lindemann feel tired towards the end of the season. The constant work in the hotel is getting too much and when they see their dream house, a beautiful villa in a quiet spot, is for sale, they start dreaming about a different life. In the kitchen there is much ado when the head chef finds out that his niece is dating the penniless German kitchen help. Jens Hartmann is still obsessed with his treasure hunt and this time he actually finds a gold bar in the sunken shipwreck. And after the departure of two timing husband Ulrich Merz, his wife and his lover ...

A hotel guest recognizes Tommy, the penniless kitchen help as a con artist who is known to arrive at hotels, stay there and then claim to have had his money stolen when he is unable to pay his bill. Max Lindemann, who has come to like the young man, shows more understanding than expected. Jens Hartmann, now totally obsessed with the gold in the sunken shipwreck, needs money to rent a boat with specialized equipment to lift the treasure. He doesn't stop at blackmail and threatens his lover Renate and her husband with exposure if they don't lend him the 50,000 marks he ...

With Kuhn's sudden departure to South America, Michael Lindemann is now in charge of the garage. When he goes through the papers, he finds a wedding photo showing Renate Feller and a man with more than a slight resemblance to Kuhn. His father, when told about the photo, asks Michael to keep his suspicions to himself. Then there is the wedding of the lovable con man Tommy and the niece of head chef Jose, and another art show with paintings of a local artist - Isolde.

Jens Hartman tragically drowns when he attempts to lift the sunken gold and to land it in a secluded place. Renate Feller tries to mislead the police and manages to maneuver the boat away from the gold. Lisa and Max return to look at their dream house, which is still for sale. Without Lisa's knowledge, Max contacts the real estate agent. And two fathers with their daughters have arrived for a holiday at the hotel. One father doesn't spend enough time with his daughter, the other rather too much.

Renate Feller is arrested after the police learn that her drowned lover Jens Hartman has named her the beneficiary of his life insurance. This being the second life insurance being paid out to her in the course of only a few years, the police, both in Spain and in Germany, suspect her of having murdered the men in her life for financial gain.

Max has bought Lisa's dream house, and the couple tell their family that they are going to retire from the hotel business. Renate Feller is free again, but there is restraint between her and Jonas Rowalt, who has been instrumental in getting the murder charges against her dropped. He is wondering if it is a good idea to commit to a woman who has profited from the life insurances of the two last men in her life in only a short period of time.

Max and Lisa are moving into their dream house and retire from the hotel business. The Hotel Paradies will be leased to Kroll for a time, with the condition that Frank be kept on as hotel manager until he is ready to take over the hotel on his own. Renate Feller can eventually find happiness with Jonas Rowalt after convincing him beyond doubt that her husband is alive.
