A shy Hope Davidson and brassy Gloria Utz meet in their shared Philadelphia apartment building and become unlikely friends. In the first episode Hope's husband Jeffrey hits on Gloria.

Hope's birthday plans are ruined by Dennis's presence, a spiked cake and Louis' amorous cousin.

The new hairdressing job that Hope got for Gloria at the show us threatened when Dennis' original stylist returns.

Hope finds a date for Gloria via the computer and finds the man more to her liking when they double date.
