Istanbul police commissioner Mehmet Özakin's former university mate Yunus, now a restaurant chain owner, asks him discretely to look for German tourist Anja Sonntag, who is later found murdered in the city's ancient cisterns. Flanked by Mustafa and Anja's best friend, unshakable German newspaper correspondent Monika Adler, Özakin investigates the case, which proves to tie in with country bakery daughter Kadriye's mysterious turning up at his home to ask help and sudden disappearance. Istanbul businessman Hüseyin Akdamar, who checked into a luxury hotel for sex with Ukrainian 'maid' Ludmilla Dubrynska, is fatally stabbed by a person in a burkah. Later Faruk Soydan suffers the same fate, while Ludmilla survives an attack. Commissioner Mehmet Özakin, whose wife Sevim bugs him about 'neglect', and his assistant Mustafa, whose mother bugs him with her health, investigate the victims' families, the survivor, ultra-Islamic circles the Akdamars belong to and a feminist anti-adultery-activist Fatma Colak.

Commissioner Özakin has to postpone marital quality time after a puzzling bank robbery. The old guard, who strolled off for a snack, was shot outside, but probably not functionally for the theft, which was probably cued by the haughty US-trained female manager or her staff. Confidential client files, found in the murdered guard's home, lead to a web of family secrets. Meanwhile deputy commissioner Mustafa must contend with a woman searching for a son, 'abdcuted' by the father from Germany to Istanbul, and Muslim fasting.

Istanbul murder detective commissioner Mehmet Özakin and his deputy Mustafa Tombul investigate the murder of art gallery owner Alpay Ertem, found there skull smashed twice with a water bottle. In a nearby drain are found the smashed pieces of a priceless Byzantine era stone relief. Alpay filed for divorce from Leyla, who claims to be abused; he was likely to get custody of their two school age children, which his wealthy parents now claim. The cases of a murdered cab driver and his last passenger, abducted Iranian political refugee Nesrin Bahrami, must be linked. Commissioner Özakin's boss forbids investigating the role of the Iranian secret service, but their muscle comes into bloody action. Key are cab company owner Erdogan Önal, also suspected of contraband trade, ans somehow his wife and daughter and soon murdered brother, party-boy Tarik.

Security firm owner Hunal and his wife were shot at home. Commissioner Mehmet Özakin must find their son Ersun, initially a suspect, actually the only witness, whom he saves from a masked killer thanks to a brave buddy Mourad, later must take home for lack of trustworthy relatives until his sister arrives. The next suspect, Hunal's former friend and fired employee, leads the investigation to the Istanbul Boxing Club.

Istanbul contractor Hakan Demirkan is found murdered in his summer house, next to a voodoo doll. Commissioner Mehmet Özakin and assistant Mustafa first examine threats against Demirkan on account of his firm's controversially drastic development projects in the old neighborhood Tarlabasi. He had an adulterous affair with the shortly after murdered opposition lawyer's girlfriend, Yasemin Gül. Commissioner Özakin's team investigates the fatal stabbing with a blunt object of archaeology museum chief guard Halil Gezer, in the park. He was disliked as too strict and recently fired a former friend Koray Celik, who refused to forbid his son Sabri courting Halil's daughter Ayla. Museum director Nesrin Günes opposes the ministry's intent to 'return' the whole Egyptian collection to Cairo and failed to report many valuable pieces being missing, on account of another crime, and more is to follow.

Leading Turkish costume soap star Emrah Öztürk is fatally and expertly shot at a gala event, or actually his double, as the producer admits having hired one since receiving grim threats, so either could be the intended victim. Commissioner Özakin must examine both men's colorful past, which links after all, as well as studio politics. Meanwhile the presumed shooter is arrested but released for lack of proof, and tries again.

Half-German Ergan Gül (36) is fatally stabbed and dumped in the Bosporus. He worked in the illegal call center section of a major Istanbul broker's firm, which used dummy companies and fake accounts to sell real estate to foreigners and Turkish former ex-pats seeking a cheap pensioner home. Ergan thus paid for his language studies. Commissioner Özakin must work out if he was killed be a cheated client, as appears, executed for dealing behind the firm's back or the victim of a more personal plot, possibly involving his teacher-lover.
