McGarrett manages to locate the boy and sends him to juvenile detention for his own protection, but he does not figure on the intervention of Frances Chai, a crusading deputy public defender.

The murder brings McGarrett and Five-O into the case, but it turns out that Nichols is not the only one after the missing artifact or the reward.
