The tale of an ex-Air Force Captain who, since his return to civilian life, has lived with his guilt about an ill-fated raid over Germany during which he was forced to bail out, leaving his co-pilot behind. The return of the co-pilot years later, affects the captain and his family.

A cat seems to come between a man and his wife along with another man in a botched murder plot. They try to poison the husband with some soup, but before he can partake of it the cat drinks it and dies.

The late Mr. Drew requested that his young son be sent to a private school up north. But the assignment proves difficult when the boy declares he is not going away with any "darn Yankee."
