The Hootons, a New York City family, impulsively move to New Mexico to run a guest ranch. In this first episode Bill Hooton arrives to find guests leaving in fear of a mountain lion and he can not afford to pay the staff.

Desperate for publicity to attract customers, the Drus invite a famous magazine writer to accompany them on an authentic Indian pack trip.

Babs fears she may loses her husband to his childhood sweetheart, who is now an accomplished horsewoman.

Babs wants garden furniture for the ranch, but Bill thinks they have more need for a cow.

Forgetful wrangler Lonesome loses a valued horse.

The Hootens are thrown into turmoil by an unscheduled visit from Babs' mother.

Former model Babs is appalled when a rival tells her she now resembles a leather-faced old pioneer woman.

Bill fears that if Babs finds out there's a cougar loose on their ranch, she'll leave immediately for New York.

Babs hires a handsome young wrangler to provide companionship to a skilled but lonely Indian cook.

Hawkeye schemes to make Bill believe he is an Indian prince of royal blood in order to use the Hooten ranch for his money-making Festival of Corn.

Guests are expecting a meal of Mexican food and Babs is clueless where to begin. She buys a cookbook from Hawkeye but is no better off as it's in Spanish. Babe decides to forge ahead.

Babs is not used to the quiet rural life and wants a taste of the big city. Husband Bill tells her it's too expensive but she finds a way to escape temporarily.

Babs and Bill decide they need a peaceful weekend with no guests. But when the Curtis couple show up with confirmed reservations everything is turned upside down.

Hawkeye's feathers are ruffled when the town decides to erect a monument to its "greatest citizen".

Babs is put in charge of entertainment by the P.T.A. and she's at a loss for ideas. Hawkeye persuades her to put on a wrestling match between her husband Bill and "War Eagle" .

The Hootens rent an industrial cleaner from Hawkeye that goes berserk and destroys the lodge. Babe and Bill take him to court to collect damages.
