Glyn,Hodge,Daz and Beggsy are friends,living in Stockport. Hodge is celebrating his wedding anniversary and plans a night out for the boys. However Glyn,egged on by publican father Warren,goes to a salsa class in order to impress salsa-mad ex-girlfriend Julie. Warren's behaviour gets them both thrown out but at least Julie appreciates the effort. Daz wants to take out girlfriend Colleen but she refuses as she is staying in to help flatmate Bev write a poem for her deceased cat. Glyn starts work as driver for gangster Mad Tony and,after Daz has had another spat with Colleen,Glyn takes him and the lads out in it for the evening,Hodge sporting a loud yellow cardigan given him by his wife,which attracts attention. With Glyn over the limit Hodge literally draws the short straw to chauffeur Tony's drunk girlfriend Zoe home,only to find the car has been stolen by juvenile delinquents who demand a ransom to return it. It's Glyn's birthday and he plans a fancy dress party in the pub but Hodge and Daz fall out over an incident when they were at school and,after visiting the teacher for her opinion,are at odds with each other. To attract nurse Julie Glyn feigns chest pains but ends up having to stay in hospital overnight whilst to Beggsy's surprise his ex-wife Mandy arrives from Australia and they indulge in an afternoon of passion,being disturbed by a call from her new man Wayne.
