Gaither's Pond

Bullfrog Younce tells Guppie Penrod that he shouldn't bit the fishing hook that little Benjy was using to catch fish. Guppie knows that he shouldn't bite the shiny hook, but it is too tempting. A pretty horned frog on the dirtier side of the pond tempts Guppie to take a bite. Guppie decides to take a bite on the hook after the frog nibbles on it and then he gets caught! Guppie is thrown on to the bank in front of Bullfrog and is saved.

Carp Lowry is the writer of the pond's newsletter and starts making up stories to put in the newsletter which causes distress to the inhabitants of Gaither's Pond.

The Beavers urge the inhabitants of Gaither's Pond to build a dam and ends up causing them to almost dry up and die.

Linda the firefly tells the inhabitants of Gaither's Pond about the monster that lives in the cave in Gaither's Pond. Once Carp Lowry and his friends get trapped in the cave, they have to face their fears. Later, they found out it was only a small orange salamander.
