12 finalists arrive in Los Angeles to face their first challenges.

The finalists test their camera skills in a recipe breakdown relay and then cater Duff Goldman's party at the Santa Monica pier.

The finalists create dishes inspired by movie genres, and then cater an after-party for Colbie Caillat.

The finalists cook with peppers for a spot on Bobby's Mesa Grill menu, then they reinvent the childhood favorites of three celebrity chefs.

The finalists face midterms with complex camera and star challenges which ask them to show their worth to the network.

The finalists are asked to demonstrate their expertise in food and entertaining.

The six remaining finalists must cater to busy parents and then shift gears to deliver the meal of their lives as a team when they open an underground supper club.

The finalists find they have to dip into their emotions for the two challenges that will determine which four of them will go to New York.

Now in New York City, the finalists must prove their camera readiness and food worthiness in a combination Iron Chef battle in which they will be judged by the Iron Chefs as well as the panel.

The three remaining finalists film their pilots which are then screened for the selection committee and a focus group before the winner is named.
