Renji, a student with problems deciding his career path, meets an intriguing young girl named Chihiro, waiting on a bench at his favorite reading spot - an abandoned train station. Meanwhile, it's Christmas Eve, and Kei and Mizuki are waiting on Kei's "Onii-chan" to arrive at their place to celebrate, only to find out that he stood them up chasing a girl who stole his bike to catch a purse thief. Also, Kyosuke and his girlfriend are out filming in the snowy season when something interesting catches his eye.

Renji, now friends with Chihiro, comes back at the station daily to talk with her, and eventually discovers the secret relating to her curious behavior. Hirono skips class to draw manga on the rooftop of his school, where Miyako, also skipping class, finds him; he tells her all about his job. Kyosuke helps edit the film submission he and his club are working on, but it seems unlikely to be a winner.

Renji explores the truth and feelings lying within Chihiro, who is unable to remember anything for more than 13 hours after an accident years ago. He also begins to understand the consequences of his seemingly primitive actions. Trying to compromise between work and, to please Kei, education, Hirono attends school after submitting his script but quickly leaves with Miyako. Dissatisfied with the finished production, Kyosuke goes for a stroll through the city's rubble. His girlfriend follows him to talk about his recent behavior and their relationship.

Renji proposes to Chihiro his idea of writing a novel together - to fulfill her dream - but Chihiro retreats. Kei tries to cook for Hirono, whose job is producing diminishing returns, but Miyako beats her to it. Kyosuke takes a liking to Kei.

Chihiro decides to write the novel with Renji, and the two start brainstorming at Renji's house, meeting his mother and his neighbor at the same time. Kyosuke approaches Kei in order to obtain footage, but it doesn't go according to plan. Kei confronts Miyako about her relationship with Hirono, which leaves Kei remembering her bittersweet past involving him and her sister.

Kyosuke wants Kei to become the lead role in a new movie he's making. Kei reveals to Miyako that she's determined to make Hirono forget about her competition, and Hirono is forced to keep promises he might not be able to keep. Renji and Chihiro continue to work on the story, facing a lack of experience to describe certain situations.

Renji and Chihiro review parts of the story together and try to decide what to write for its ending. The two end up on the beach afterwards where emotions run high. Miyako remembers her past and while waiting for Hirono, who seems to be late for their meeting, decides to leave him a message or two.

Miyako is shut out of Hirono's life by Kei, and she succumbs to sadness. Hirono and Kei try to properly recover simultaneously, but the idea is quickly shattered. Kyosuke tries to relate to Kei's situation and offers support. Chihiro tries to remember as much as she can about Renji for the next time they meet.

Chihiro, determined to return to her former self, continues to spend time with Renji, the latter having concerns piling up inside him. Hirono and Miyako reunite properly, and they discuss their futures on the beach. Kyosuke addresses Kei's recent lack of shine to her as they met up.

Renji is devastated by the loss of Chihiro's memories of himself. In a state of sorrow, he nonetheless decides to do something about it. However, as he soon finds out, not everything is as gloomy as it originally seemed.
