Seeing off a pair of tossers in a Toyota and a chance conversation with her mechanic convince bored housewife Donna Hewitt to become a racing driver.

Ken assesses Donna's driving; she and Jen think of ways to raise money. After initial reluctance, their husbands get behind the project.

When Donna & Jen's coffee morning friends are understandably unwilling to help with fund raising, Joanna gets her school friends involved. Donna sees a fatal Formula 1 crash on TV she doubts her resolve....

Donna and Jen get local newspaper and radio exposure; Jen and Ken have a snog; and a beveraged up Joanna gets Nigel going.

Donna meets the competition in the form of racer Alan Hearshner; meanwhile Nigel babysits his year old brother David.
