Mart is lonely and bored in her new residence, until she meets her roommate. Janine urges Pierre to tell his mother about their emigration, but he finds a distracting old letter.

Mart and Dalena spend time with Simon and his strange friend. Janine is emotional, and Mart takes this as a sign to intervene.

The girls are planning a sneaky trip to Pretoria but Dalena thinks she needs protection. Pierre and Janine's plans are put on hold while Mother Mart reminisces about London.

Mart is worried about Dalena. Pierre and Janine realise that their opinions about raising children are different and Mart needs to make peace with a harsh reality.

Mart helps Dalena make an adult decision as she fears the worst. Pierre and Janine get a house that fits in their budget, but it comes with unexpected conditions.

Mart dreams of a past Christmas time as Marlene tries to hide her concern about the border. Pierre crosses personal boundaries and puts Janine in a difficult position.

It is Matric time, and Mart is uneasy with Dalena in her new boarding school room. The reality of becoming a father leads Pierre to dig further into his past.

Dalena's absence brings Suna and Mart closer together, but Simon struggles. Pierre tries to make peace .

Suna organsies a party and encourages Mart to enjoy it, but she can't stop thinking about Dalena. Pierre is surprised as Mart shares her stories

Simon shares with Mart about the baby, but when she calls the hostel, Dalena is gone.
