In episode One we're introduced to Rich and Bert. They have been surviving on their own in a small city for the past 2 years, scavenging all they can from nearby apartments and staying out of sight. They were lucky enough to end up in a small NJ area that was not as heavily devastated as the rest. Occasionally Rich embarks on adventurous day trips to NYC, for additional supplies. While Bert prefers the safety of a less populated area and remains within city limits.

Rich and Bert come across what they think is the ideal apartment to move into. They soon change their mind and discuss the possibility of perhaps trying to reach the settlement down South. The same one Bert has been in contact with.

Rich and Bert hit the road, on their way down South. They almost literally run into another 2 survivors. Paige and Chris are heading in the same direction and decide to tag along for the ride.

Rich, Bert, Paige and Christ are getting to know each other while stopping at a nearby town in search of a new car and additional supplies. They're only hours away from their destination.

Rich, Bert, Paige and Chris finally arrive at the compound. A place that seems relatively safe from the outside zombie threat. They are welcomed by a large group of mixed military and civilian survivors. And although their new home proves to be organized and well stocked, Rich seems to be the only one not convinced by their new neighbors' hospitality.

Bert, Paige and Chris seem to be adapting well to their new environment. They are enjoying an easier life within the compound, protected by Captain Hawkin's mixed military Unit. Rich is still not convinced and remains apprehensive over what he thinks is excessive security. Chris discovers blueprints of the entire compound and shares them with Rich.

After a couple of months everyone is settled in their new "home" while Chris comes across blueprints that may reveal a way out, overlooked by Hawkins and his men. Meanwhile Bert discovers the truth about Hawkin's intentions in regards to their stay.

After discovering the Unit's true nature Rich and Bert decide to plan a quiet escape. Chris finally reveals Hawkin's intentions to Paige, and the 4 begin to bring supplies out to the car ready to make their move. Meanwhile the Unit comes across 2 new survivors out on the road.
