1961: The covert Nazi network plans a war against East-Germany. Col. Brinkmann is a member but opposes this strategy. When he allegedly commits suicide Werner investigates because the colonel had written a memorandum which has disappeared.

Werner's deep cover is almost blown when Brigitte, his alter-ego Achim's pre-war friend, learns that he is alive. Werner is ordered to return home but manages to locate Brinkmann's secret dossier before Born's agency can get hold of it.
