Jed uses his spare time to write songs as he worries about losing his job, a London A&R man comes under fire for failing to find anything new, and an American music producer is asked for his opinion about a demo tape.

Ade has to race back to London to meet Jed after waking up in Brighton, a huge decision has to be made about moving away from Newcastle, and growing financial pressures mean that things need to get moving quickly.

Jed says one last goodbye to his magic lathe before making his big move, Rex get a shock when he threatens to put the blockers on any deal, and the reasoning behind a little musical disagreement soon becomes clear.

Emma can't hide her excitement when Jed and Ade fly off to the States, saving a drummer's life provides access to some quality musicians, and an invitation to the home of a country star is too good a chance to miss.

Jed flies straight back to the UK for the funeral despite Ade's best efforts, Emma has some explaining to do when she's caught with a strange fella, and a visit to a solicitor leads to a totally unexpected five-figure windfall.

Ade's unhappy when a duet in America is put before finishing the album, DI Machin explains that the police need help with apprehending Snotter, and Carmel has a huge meltdown after her advances are rejected by Jed.

Caroline visits Jed while he's filming the music video for his debut single, Alan Clarke asks questions about what went wrong out in Nashville, and Paul hears a familiar voice when the lads decide to celebrate in London.
