Hilton has a nightmare that he's been fired from the airline, and his wife Ruth reminds him that it already happened to him three weeks ago along with 10,000 others. Ruth tells her friend Pauline that it's tough having Hilton around the house all day - he's trying to fix things that aren't broken.

Hilton feels cheated that his company laid him off without even a goodbye party, but Ruth tells him he's being childish.

After a home burglary, Hilton forms a neighborhood-watch program, but it turns out that he's causing more problems than he's solving.

Hilton hears that the airlines are hiring again, so he prepares his resume and schedules an interview to get his old job back.

The antique shop where Hilton works has a secret hiding behind a locked door, and the cops want him to help them in a raid of the premises.

Hilton's lie to avoid going to a stranger's wedding backfires on him.

Hilton tries to help Pauline's financially irresponsible goddaughter but ends up the recipient of an overly generous ATM.

Hilton's cousin Earl has secretly checked himself into the hospital for a colonoscopy procedure, not telling his wife Lillian because he doesn't want her to worry. Hilton visits Earl, and he warns Ruth and Pauline to keep Earl's secret from Lillian, who's coming over to see him.

The nude model from Hilton's art class finds her clothes missing after class. It's Hilton to the rescue, not knowing her irate husband has the wrong impression and is hot on their trail.

Hilton and Griffin go to a basketball game where Hilton learns that he has the winning ticket for a contest called "Shot of a Lifetime."

Hilton goes to school to become a security guard, and when Pauline sees him with his graduating class, she swears she'll never feel safe again. She urges Ruth to stop Hilton before he hurts himself or someone else.

Hilton's eccentric and snobby brother George pays a visit to the Lucas household.

Hilton finds that his life insurance is practically worthless, so he tries to shape up to pass a physical for a new policy.

After calling in to a radio talk show, Hilton is chosen to dine with the president. Mayor Rudolph Giuliani makes a special appearance.

Hilton tries to help save his friend Bradshaw's failing mattress and bedding business.

After Griffin and Erica attend their high school reunion, Griffin realizes that their relationship is going nowhere and decides to make a clean break from her.

It's Valentine's Day, and when Hilton realizes that he has bought Ruth a scarf that she already has, it's back to the drawing board. When she mentions that she'd love to see singer Jeffrey Osborne, who's appearing at the Steinway Club that night, a desperate Hilton says that he has tickets and was going to surprise her.

Hilton and Ruth take a winter vacation in Florida and are so enchanted with the weather, the fresh oranges, the vegetation and the peace and quiet that they decide to put their house on the market immediately and move as soon as possible.

As a 30th anniversary gift, Hilton tries to give Ruth the wedding she always wanted.

Erica and her cat Sherman moves back in with Hilton and Ruth. Meanwhile, a discarded positive pregnancy test has everyone jumping to conclusions.

Ruth has some issues with Hilton that need to be resolved, so they go to a group therapy session that includes some of Hilton's former co-workers from the airline. At the end of the session, the group gathers at a nearby pub where Hilton advises Ron, who's having both work and marital problems, to demand a raise and stand up to his wife.

Ruth's high school friend, now a pop star, visits during a singing tour and gives Ruth the chance to sing with her old group.

Pauline's boyfriend leaves her for a 26-year-old aerobics instructor. She's so depressed that Ruth decides to set her up on a blind date with Richard, her Spanish instructor.

Erica brings Julius, her boyfriend of three months and star of a kids' TV program, home to meet Hilton and Ruth; Hilton is unimpressed and gives Julius a hard time. Hilton goes with Erica to watch Julius' program and inadvertently becomes part of the show.

Hilton tries to convince the Social Security Administration that he is not dead.
