Cleo's used to the whiteness of private schools, from the teachers to the uniforms, but she's certainly not ecstatic about it. This is why in her sophomore year of high school, as representatives start making their way through her classes talking about what stands out to the top colleges, she decides to take a chance and run for student government. Somehow, she wins. And now she has to live in the light she chose. Of course, it all happens right before the homecoming dance, which has seen better days in terms of ticket sales. Maybe in the process, she can mend her friendship with the student body president? High school's hard enough without politics and socializing involved, so you can't blame a girl for trying if she stumbles a little.
