In episode one we meet a father-son survey team, Harold 'Skip' and Jeremy Phillips, on the hunt for new surveying gear. We also meet the manager of the Boundary Stone store, Greg Benson, Jason 'Mac' McAdams, a seasoned sales representative, and the new guy, Connor Meyers. While Skip attempts to pass on his wisdom to Jeremy, Greg tries to motivate Mac to train Connor.

Skip brings Jeremy on a visit to see his long-time friend, Clay, who drags them down memory lane, a place Jeremy would love to forget. When Mac turns up missing, claiming to be on an important sales call, Greg is forced to train Connor on the difficult aspects of the business. Everyone maneuvers tough spots as they attempt to maintain their dignity.

Skip and Jeremy meet challenges in the field while doing a typical survey when they meet a landowner with a bone to pick. Mac takes Connor on his first cold call, hoping to start his weekend early, but learns the true meaning of patience. What should be everyday scenarios end in unpredictable ways as the guys go about their jobs.

Skip and Jeremy head to the Boundary Stone store where Mac, Connor, and Greg try to sell them a new piece of equipment. Stressing the importance of good equipment, Mac uses a poor example when pointing to a surveyor named Don Johnson as an example. After bringing in the crew chief, Mac and Connor encounter more problems. Building America is a comedy about passing on the trades of land surveying and equipment sales to the next generation.

Skip and Jeremy meet with Mac and Connor to demo the Vortex 4000. Connor is tasked with demoing the equipment, but lacks the experience and know-how to do the job. Skip has little interest in the demo and opts to occupy himself otherwise. Building America is a comedy about passing on the trades of land surveying and equipment sales to the next generation.

Skip and Jeremy are ready to pull the trigger and buy a new Vortex 4000. Unfortunately, Greg pressures Mac and Connor to push the Vortex 6000.
