Malik Washington is the lead male stand-in for Will Smith on the TV show, The Last Murder. Eboni Jackson is smitten with the director, Tawan Pluralton. Malik Washington invites his background actor friends over for Thanksgiving dinner and the party starts.

Malik Washington distraught by his mother's sarcoma cancer diagnosis, needs to escape. He attends Eboni Jackson's Christmas party. Who will win the Christmas Carol lip-synch Battle.

Malik Washington and his gang of misfit background actors learn that they are nominated and will be attending the 2018 Background Awards Show, sponsored by the Background Extras Atmosphere Artist Association. Eboni is unsettled by her so called, "friends" lack of support.

With Malik Washington being nominated for the Best Male Stand-in of the Year Award, everyone prepares for the 2018 BEAAA ( Background Extras Atmosphere Artists Association) Awards Show.

Background: Out of Focus is a showcase web-series. (Intended for Mature Audiences). Malik Washington flies to the east coast to witness his mother's death due to Sarcoma Cancer. Her gospel memorial opens his eyes to his dying community. Mariah-Yonce' Knowles gives in to love while they are all trying to figure out just how to live.
