In 1932, two reporters investigate a gangster war, and a bizarre incident: a transcontinental train was hijacked by two gangs, who were then massacred by a monster aboard the train.

In 1931, the "Flying Pussyfoot" train departs for New York on the Grand Punk Railroad, carrying a group of (mostly) unrelated passengers.

In 1933, Eve Geonard searches for her missing brother Dallas. In 1930, an immortality elixir is lost by its alchemist owner. In 1931, the train is doubly hijacked.

In 1931 Ladd Russo likes to talk... mostly about slaughtering. In 1932, Eve begins searching for Dallas. In 1930, Slizard Quates searches for his missing elixir.

In 1931, Jacuzzi Splot decides to stop the hijacking... but finds something has started slaughtering a gang. In 1930, Firo Prochainezo is inducted into the Martillo Family at a party.

In 1931, the Rail Tracer continues its murderous rampage. In 1930, Dallas becomes an Immortal.

Where it all began. In 1711, a group of Immortal alchemists fight over the elixir due to its power, and its dreadful proviso (they must kill each other off).

Isaac and Miria spread happiness around them: in 1930, they meet and comfort Eve and later Ennis; and in 1932 they meet and comfort Jacuzzi.

In 1932, after the train ends its trip, assassin Claire Stanfield (aka the Rail Tracer), in love with passenger Chane Laforet, meets his adoptive family, the Gandors.

In 1931, Ladd almost kills Immortal Czeslaw Meyer. In 1932, Dallas attacks the Immortal Gandor brothers. In 1930, Isaac and Miria steal the elixir and head to the Martillos' party.

In 1930, Firo flirts with Ennis, while his boss Maiza meets his nemesis... Slizard, Ennis's master. In 1931, Claire and Ladd fight aboard the "Flying Pussyfoot".

In 1931, Isaac and Miria fall off the train with Czeslaw, and Ladd jumps off to rescue his fiancée Lua. In 1930, Isaac and Miria attempt to save Maiza from Slizard.

In 1930, Firo manages to slay Slizard and rescue Ennis. In 1931, Isaac and Miria adopt Czeslaw as their brother; Claire proposes to Chane. In 1932 Eve arranges to rescue Dallas.

In 1931, an Immortal named Elmer watches Firo, Ennis and Maiza reunite with Isaac, Miria and Czeslaw; later he visits Chane's Immortal father, Huey.

Ladd's friend Graham Specter kidnaps Chane, now a member of Jacuzzi's gang. The gang sets off to rescue her, with Claire in hot pursuit.

The 1932 reporters from the beginning finally pronounce the Immortals' affair they're investigating as too complicated and convoluted to have a beginning, and probably without an ending.
