An employee at a Red Light District peepshow is found dead. De Cock and his team discover that the woman's death was beneficial for a lot of her co-workers.

Merciless TV critic David Waterman is found at his home desk, eye fatally pierced by his pen, no signs of fight, break-in of theft. Despite a bitter separation, the serial adulterer left a huge life-insurance benefiting his ex and daughter. His vitriolic columns made many enemies among actors and writers. One of them was allegedly seen entering the house in the fatal night. Baantjer wades trough alibis and motives, yet reconsiders taking account of a possible accidental factor.

Acting on a hunch, De Cock decides to re-investigate the death of a young man after several mysterious occurrences at his funeral.

The team looks into rivalry between illusive local crime king Adriaan de Koning and Graanoogst's rival street gang, inherited by brother Orlando, but also personal matters, such as infidelity, and improbable coincidences with alibi relevance.

Actress Heleen Sterneberg pretends to be shot every night. When she is shot for real, De Cock and his team investigate.

At Christmastide, Amsterdam shelter junior salvo Betty de Wijn is murdered. Obvious first suspect is regular homeless junkie Ferdy van Nieuwkerk, who found her with major Dreef. It soon becomes clear even Salvos can be deeply involved in illegality, such as drug dealing, as certainly applies to Betty's ex, now an officer-trainee. Tragically, a suspect is killed himself.

Amsterdam Zoo Artis animal handlers supervisor Willem Kraan is found locked in the lion cage and practically devoured. His wife Marjan accuses his ex and alleged lover Ina de Vrede, with whom she had a crazy feud. Frank de Moor, whom Willem fired recently, was seen around. An animal smuggling opponent thinks the illegal trade gang they were after ordered him murdered, so De Cock searches for a possible inside accomplice.

A successful businessman is found murdered aboard a replica of a Dutch East India Company vessel. De Cock and his team find plenty of motives, for instance an ex-employee who went bankrupt because of him, and even the man's own children.

De Cock and his team investigate the murder on a fashion designer who was stabbed in the back with a pair of scissors, and discover a world of gossip and design theft.

Leading Amsterdam restaurant critic Johannes de Boer is found in a street dumpster, poisoned in a triple mustard sauce dinner. His wife lies as if she were filing for divorce, while he was and the prenuptial would have left her destitute. His often abusive reviews ruined several restaurateurs, unlike his nephew Wouter Bossong, whose is still in financial trouble. Buitendam enjoys finding out which restaurant serves the mustard dish. De Cock however also discovers another type of grudge.

De Cock and his team investigate the murder on an Italian man who froze to death after being trapped in a meat locker. Vledder suspects it is an assassination by the mafia.
