As season two begins, Ms. Jones' class returns to school after a historic winter storm shuts down all of Austin. Aria clashes with a new student and aspiring singer, Dominique, as Ms. Jones's class is introduced to Mr. Edwards, the school's new counselor who has a knack for saying all the right things. Maxwell continues with his dream of becoming a hip-hop artist, but struggles to keep the truth from his father- all while Aria tries to uncover the truth about her own father, the mayor, who faces growing calls to resign for failures during the storm.

When Ms. Jones' class split into pairs for a community service project, Aria and Dominique learn they have more in common than they realize- as do Brooke and Mason; Willow bonds with her younger sister, Olivia; Aria and Abigail reckon with a storm of negative news stories about their father.

More people at Austin High start to open up to Mr. Edwards; Brooke and Mason grow closer as Aria spends more time with Riley and Willow; Maxwell decides he can no longer keep the truth about his ambitions from his father.

Due to strife between Brook and Aria, the talent show performance is suddenly in jeopardy; Dominique and Aria connect over long distance. Mason tries to patch things up with Aria. Ms. Jones finally gets a date night with Mr. Edwards.

Dominique returns to Austin High, but has some unexpected news; Riley shows a hidden talent; Aria confronts her father about the news stories and protesters.

In the season finale, as the day of the talent show arrives, Maxwell and Mr. Edwards try to figure out who will run the show; Dominique gets an unexpected visitor, and Aria finally hears from her mom.
