The current crop of finalists is selected from a pool of 35 contestants. This time Tyra opts to take 14 girls to New York City instead of the usual 13.

The girls hit Manhattan and drop into their first challenge: A fashion show for Badgley Mischka on a runway set up in Times Square. Amy decides that from this episode forward she is to be called Amis. Kimberly admits to the judges that she has no interest in fashion and accepts Tyra's invitation to go home, and Atalya is eliminated.

Contestants get their makeovers and are not allowed to see their new hairstyles until they are finished. Elle MacPherson appears to dress them in her new lingerie line, but in the end Allison gets sent home.

The contestants pose with racks of beef in the meatpacking district. Cycle 8 winner Jaslene Gonzalez returns to judge a challenge. In the end, Amy (better known as Amis) is asked to pack her bags.

The contestants pose on the streets of New York City after a supermodel guest, Vendela, tutors them on the finer points of posing for commercial, couture and catalog photos. In the end, Marvita gets the high fashion boot.

Tyra instructs the contestants on how to achieve the perfect end-of-runway pose.

The contestants do a Broadway shoot and, later are photographed in an unusual setting.

Paulina schools the girls on proper behavior in public, a la "Pygmalion," then scoots them into a cocktail party to test their newfound skills in front of fashion world luminaries.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do -- and film a commercial in Italian.

Contestants learn to wield swords, gladiator style.

The final four models step behind the camera during this week's challenge when they get to photograph Paulina Porizkova and later pose as famous movie icons in a shoot with photographer Nigel Barker. The girls are on edge when they learn that none of the judges are impressed with any of their final portraits.

Whitney Thompson becomes the first full-figured woman to win the "America's Next Top Model" title.
