Aided by the bizarre and beautiful Polandi and his servant Luko, Mr Stabs. An evil magician, sets out to steal the missing segment of the Secret Seven Serpents, which are in Tarot's possessions. Several people have already died for possessing it, and Tarot is the next victim on Stabs' hit list.

Investigating why normally well-behaved children suddenly go berserk and wreck their school classrooms, Tarot and his companions find themselves up against the fiendish Uncle Harry and his strange troupe of travelling entertainers.

The theft of a deadly hallucinatory gas, H23, by the deadly Thalia and her brother Dalbiac, plunges Tarot and his friends into a nightmare adventure. Contact with the gas induces deep sleep and nightmares so real that the victim dies from shock after 23 minutes: captured and exposed to the gas, Tarot has only minutes to live.

The Eye of Ra, a diamond reputed to have the power to turn people into chalk, is high on eccentric chess master Ceribraun's shopping list. Believing that the diamond has turned Mr Sweet into a chalk statuette, Tarot decides to act. He soon finds himself a prisoner of Ceribraun's talking computer, and in danger of being crushed of being crushed to death between giant robotic chess pieces.
