Doordarshan is one of the founders of Robocon - the annual Robotic Competition held under the aegis of Asia Pacific Broadcasters Union, and India has been a prominent contender since this contest's inception in 2002.

Theme and Game Plan of ABU Robocon 2007are based on the legend according to which the Mother Dragon and her Child Dragons sent by the Jade Emperor saved Viet people from the invaders.

All India Robocon 2007 opened with participation of 25 teams operating their robots symbolizing mother and child dragons to carry the blocks symbolizing pearls to build Victory Islands in the Game Field.

The battle that starts after a formal inauguration is not merely a machine pitted against a machine or men against men but the battle of an excellent idea and passionate spirit against an equally capable counterpart.

25 teams of budding technocrats from all over the country put in their best for a one of its kind battle of gray cells and human skills.

The Halong Bay Discovery theme decided by international host Vietnam dominates ambiance of not only the Game Field but the whole venue of All India Robocon 2007.

Out of 8 best performing teams which qualify for the quarter finals on the strength of their strategies, well practiced operations and a bit of luck, 4 make it to semifinals.

Teams from two institutes of excellence move forward to the ultimate fight defeating MIT, Pune and VESIT, Mumbai in sensational semifinal matches.

The neck to neck Grand Finale between IIT, Bombay and IIT, Delhi ends in a tie, and the two giant teams reenter the arena for a crucial decider.

Robustness and agility of the Robotic Squad of IIT Delhi comprising the mother and the child dragons play a significant role in making the team victorious in the decider match.

Backed by light, small and fast manual Mother Dragon and autonomous Child Dragon with surprising defensive capability, IIT, Delhi's strategy of preferring reliability rather than speed clicks and makes it the winner.

Along with the coveted trophy, the 'Team IIT' wins the title of 'Team India' and the right to represent the country in Asia Pacific Contest.

The national champion robotic team of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi refurbishes its dragon robots and looks forward to enter the international arena at Hanoi, Vietnam.
