Telling powerful stories in hourlong episodes, TLC follows medical journeys of morbidly obese people as they attempt to save their own lives. The featured individuals -- each weighing more than 600 pounds -- confront lifelong emotional and physical struggles as they make the courageous decision to undergo high-risk gastric bypass surgery. In addition to drastically changing their appearances, they hope to reclaim their independence, mend relationships with friends and family, and renew their feelings of self-worth.
For some, looking in the mirror forces them to face their whole life of struggle through the lens of their physical appearance and just making it through another day is a triumph. This season of My 600-lb Life tells powerful stories of morbidly obese individuals, many who are home bound, relying on care just to live day-to-day as they make the decision to undergo gastric bypass surgery.
This season of My 600-lb Life follows the lives of twelve people, each weighing over 600 pounds. Through their year-long journeys, they will need to lose thousands of pounds, collectively in order to survive and take control of their lives. High-risk surgery, addiction, fear, helplessness, victory - these stories are about much more than weight loss, they’re about heart.
Meet eight new individuals ready to embark on the most physically challenging and emotionally taxing year of their lives. Each episode tracks one morbidly obese individual - many of whom are immobile and depending on caretakers for everyday tasks such as driving, bathing and walking - as they courageously undergo high-risk surgery in an effort to completely change their lives.
Follow the year-long journey of eight people - each weighing over 600 lbs. - who will need to lose thousands of pounds, collectively, in order to survive and take control of their lives.
Follow four people, each weighing more than 650 lbs., as they collectively try to lose one ton. From being bedridden and dependent on the care of others to facing risky surgery to slowly regaining independence and discovering who they are, each episode documents their journey.
