William Wedig was born in 1983 in Marietta, Ohio and graduated with a BFA in film from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. His work has appeared in theaters, on TV, digitally with Vice, Time, and Sports Illustrated, and has been shown in festivals like Sundance and TIFF.After working on over a dozen feature films with the Crook Brothers and directing/editing two of his own, Wedig's feature film "Forged" which he wrote, directed and edited, won Best Film at the HBO Latino Film Festival in 2011 and the Outstanding Film Award at the Providence Latin America Film Festival. "Forged," an action-drama, stars Manny Perez (Bull, Homeland, Pride and Glory) and 3X Emmy winner Margo Martindale (The Americans, August: Osage County). David Goldstein of The New York Times wrote, "Mr. Wedig is sure of his material. Relentlessly unsentimental, 'Forged' is nasty, brutish and short, in all the best ways."His latest short film, Bygones, won the 2019 Coney Island Film Festival for Best Comedy Short Film. His screenplay, The Devil's Chasing Me, co-wrote alongside Zach Brown, Brian Cange and Marcus Hanh, was a semi-finalist in the 2020 Final Draft Big Break Screenplay contest.Wedig also had success with his half-live-action, half-animated show, "Team Toon," for which he directed 24 of the 26 half-hour episodes, having scene directed on the 2 others. Produced by Crook Brothers Productions as a joint venture between Cartoon Network and FremantleMedia, "Team Toon" premiered on Amazon Prime (UK) and ran on Netflix. Team Toon stars Disney/ABC starlet Meg Donnelly of "Zombies!" and American Housewife" fame.Recently, Wedig co-wrote the feature screenplay "Evergreen," which was accepted to the IFP hosted Filmshop event "The Breakthrough Series" in Brooklyn, New York. "Evergreen" was written alongside Wedig's long time writing partner, BAFTA-nominated Jeff Wolverton, whose film The Chubbchubbs won the Academy Award for best animated short.Wedig also directed the feature film "Rise of the Dead" that was distributed by Lions Gate Home Entertainment, co-directed a TV special "Exposure: Sports Illustrated Swimsuit" which starred Kate Upton, Irina Shayk, and more than a dozen other supermodels, and was a series director on the music series "Noisemakers On Noisevox" featuring world-renowned music journalist and former-MTV VJ, John Norris. On "Noisemakers," William directed bands such as Warpaint ("Elephants") and Temper Trap ("Sweet Disposition"), and the show featured interviews with nearly a hundred artists including Lady Gaga and Moby.Wedig is bi-coastal and spends half his time with his wife, fashion stylist and casting director Alicia Santana (www.aiiciaa.com), in Brooklyn and half in Los Angeles.
