His earliest professional production efforts dealt with fitness media and the pioneering of obstacle course sports for broadcast on ESPN. In addition to the development of an award-winning chain of health clubs in Charleston, SC (LifeQuest), Wayne was a co-publisher of Vie Magazine and was instrumental in the conception and launch of Oxygen Magazine, where he served as a contributing editor and research journalist for its first three years on the newsstand. During this time Wayne received extensive training as an actor and director for both film and stage, including long study with the New American Stage Company in New York and Charleston.
